DARD Direct Offices offer a “one stop shop” for farmers to enable them to do a range of business transactions with the Department in one visit.
The Minister said: “I have asked my officials to consider the options for locating an office in Strabane within the next 18 months to two years. I am convinced that Strabane is a location well placed to provide the full range of services to farmers in the surrounding area, and I will be working to ensure that we get these services up and running as soon as we are able.”
DARD Direct Offices have been established in Enniskillen, Coleraine, Dungannon, Newry, Mallusk, Magherafelt, Downpatrick, Armagh, and Omagh, with offices in Newtownards and Ballymena opening shortly. The Strabane office will be a significant office housing approximately 40 staff that will also provide ‘back office’ functions.
Minister added: “Once an office has been provided in Strabane, it will complete the full roll-out of DARD Direct Offices across the north. Feedback from farmers about DARD Direct has always been very positive and I want to ensure that customers in the North West benefit in the same way as others have. The office in Strabane will be a welcome addition to the DARD service provision.”
