Thursday, 28 January 2010

Minister Michelle Gildernew MP, MLA has met with representatives from the Northern Ireland Agricultural Producers Association (NIAPA) to discuss a number of issues.

The delegation from the NIAPA was led by Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick and included Michael Clarke and Jim Carmichael. At the meeting the Minister discussed a number of concerns including the Farm Modernisation Programme, farm inspections, payments and land issues.

Speaking after the Minister said: “The new year offers an opportunity for everyone in the agri-food sector to take stock for the year ahead. I met with NIAPA today to discuss a number of significant issues that are high on their agenda in the months ahead. I updated the delegation on progress on the FMP and roll-out of Tranche Two later this year.

“Specific queries relating to concerns including this year’s payments were also raised. I am always very keen to keep stakeholders up to date and ensure that we are all working closely together for the good of the local industry.”
