Gildernew meets Agriculture Committee
Thursday, 16 September 2010Minister Michelle Gildernew MP, MLA met with the new Chairman of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Mr Stephen Moutray, and members of the committee today at Greenmount Campus near Antrim.
The Minister said afterwards: “I was glad to have the opportunity of meeting with the new chairman, newly appointed and existing members of the committee to highlight some key issues of significance to both the industry and wider rural community.”
The issues discussed with the Committee included budget considerations, Single Farm Payments, Farm Modernisation and Primary Legislation being taken through the Assembly including the Welfare of Animals Bill and the Dogs (Amendment) Bill.
The Minister added: “I look forward to working with the committee in the current Assembly session and my officials will continue to assist in the important role it plays in scrutinising the work of the Department.”
