Public angling estate permit and licenses prices for 2010

Monday, 21 December 2009

Nelson McCausland MLA, the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, has announced the cost of angling permits and licences for 2010.

The Minister said: "I announced in July that in light of the current economic climate there would be no increase in the cost of angling licences for 2010. Taking into consideration the considerable social and economic benefits which angling in Northern Ireland provides, I have now also decided that there should be no increase in the cost of angling permits for 2010.

"I hope this encourages more use of the facilities offered by the Public Angling Estate which provides a variety of opportunities for angling at a reasonable cost."

The Department continues to publish its Angling Guide in two parts to provide separate information on the Game and Coarse Fisheries in the Public Angling Estate. An updated disabled angling guide is also being produced in time for the 2010 season which will provide detailed information on all the Public Angling Estate fisheries with facilities for anglers with disabilities. A copy of the appropriate guides will be available free of charge to everyone who buys a DCAL permit and licence and may be obtained either through our authorised distributors or directly from the Department.

The Department’s angling website remains very popular with many anglers, including visitors and tourists. It is also a useful source of information to help keep anglers aware of developments and issues regarding the Public Angling Estate.
