Additional governors appointed to Crumlin College
Wednesday, 12 May 2010The Department of Education has announced the appointment of two additional school governors to the Board of Governors of Crumlin Integrated College in Crumlin, Co Antrim.
Crumlin Integrated College has entered the Department’s Formal Intervention Process, whereby the school is receiving support from the North Eastern Education and Library Board to address areas for improvement identified at inspection. These appointments are being made in response to a recommendation in the inspection report that additional governors, with appropriate experience and expertise, be appointed to assist the school in addressing the issues raised in the report.
Mr Stanley Smith and Mrs Wilma Weise have been appointed by the Department as additional governors to the Board of Governors.
Mr Smith is appointed to the position of Chair of the Board of Governors. He has been involved in the education system for many years and is currently a Council Member on the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools and also a governor at Bangor Grammar School, Grange Primary School and St Malachy’s Primary School.
Mrs Weise was a managing inspector with the Education and Training Inspectorate until her retirement in 2008. She is currently a governor of Edenderry Nursery School.

- Additional governors are appointed by the Department of Education in accordance with Article 14 of the Education (NI) Order 1998.
- Stanley Smith is being appointed as Chairperson for a period of two years. Wilma Weise is being appointed for four years.
