Education Minister opens Gaelscoil Na Móna

Wednesday, 12 May 2010

Education Minister, Caitríona Ruane, has officially opened a new accommodation building at Gaelscoil Na Móna in west Belfast.

Speaking at the ceremony the Minister said: “I am honoured to be here and to officially open this fantastic new classroom unit at Gaelscoil Na Móna.

“These new facilities will address the needs of children in the Turf Lodge area and represents a substantial investment by Iontaobhas na Gaelscolaíochta, working in consultation with my Department.

“The Review of Irish Medium Education identified the issue of poor accommodation in many Irish-medium primary schools. The children of this school now have the accommodation they deserve.”

The new accommodation consists of a steel framed modular portable building containing three teaching classrooms, a resource area and associated toilets including disabled facilities.

The Minister added: “I would like to thank everyone involved with the school, the Board of Governors, the staff, the pupils and the parents for their invitation and I wish them all the success in the years ahead.”
