Well trained managers are the future

Friday, 2 October 2009

Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Employment and Learning, has stated that future success for industry must start with training managers.

The Minister addressed the alumni of Parity Solutions Ltd, many of whom are now in managerial positions, and told them: “There is a prize to be won in terms of the future success of Northern Ireland industry and the starting point will be to develop a core of well trained managers working in efficient, well managed companies.”

Since 2007, Parity Solutions has delivered the INTRO graduate management programme for the Department for Employment and Learning. Sir Reg added: “In August I was able to announce an additional 200 places on the INTRO programme. This will provide the double benefit of providing graduating students with a great opportunity to get involved in business here, as well as for the companies who will provide places for them.”

The Department for Employment and Learning has been offering 100% funding support for its range of approved Management and Leadership programmes since March to enable the development of enhanced leadership and management skills. The enhanced support is aimed towards Northern Ireland’s Small to Medium Enterprises and Social Enterprises.
