Minister hails sweet success of local Ice Cream maker

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has praised Fermanagh-based luxury ice cream maker tickety-moo Ltd's innovative approach to business, which has led to major export growth

The Minister commended the company as she re-opened its farm shop for the 2009 Summer season at its Oghill Farm base in Killadeas, near Enniskillen

Speaking during a visit to the company, the Minister said: "The food sector is an integral part of the Northern Ireland economy, and the contribution of small, premium producers like tickety-moo is extremely important. tickety-moo is an excellent example of how a traditional product can be combined with commercial vision to deliver real business success.

"Innovation and a commitment to quality are evident in all aspects of the business and this, combined with strong brand development, has helped tickety-moo to increasingly att! ract new export business. With the ongoing support of Invest Northern Ireland, the company is well-equipped to make the most of the steadily growing demand for its premium ice cream and continue to confidently negotiate the current difficult economic climate."

Gareth Grey, Managing Director of tickety-moo, said: "We pride ourselves on our rearing and production methods which enable us to develop a delicious premium product with wide-ranging appeal. Assistance from Invest NI has proved crucial in helping us to reach our target markets and raise awareness amongst not only consumers but also retail buyers.

"Our farm shop is another valuable outlet for our product range and, with our excellent location, it helps us generate further revenue from across the border. The shop also further builds our reputation as we seek to consolidate our market position and penetrate more big-name retail multiples."

tickety-moo was formed in 2004 by local entrepreneurs Ga! reth Grey and Steve Giles to produce premium quality luxury ice cream from the Grey family farm's own Jersey cows.
