Foster opens Shankill Tourist Information Office
Monday, 23 August 2010Tourism Minister Arlene Foster today opened the new Shankill Local Information Office on the Shankill Road, Belfast.
The facility, based in the Spectrum Centre, has been established by the Greater Shankill Partnership with support from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB).
Speaking at the opening of the new office, the Minister said: "The Shankill area offers visitors a rich and exciting cultural experience. The new information office means visitors from outside Northern Ireland, and the wider local community, can now find out more about the area.
"The Shankill Local Information Office will act as the first port-of-call for visitors providing a wealth of information for tourists on local points of interest to visit, such as the historically important Shankill Graveyard and the spectacular Divis and Black Mountain.
"Tourists visiting an area that is new to them will be encouraged by a warm welcome, easy access to local information and helpful advice on accommodation and local places of interest. I am sure this is a task that the new Shankill Local Information Office will be very successful in carrying in the months and years ahead."
The Minister added: "Customer service delivered to the highest standards is key to building the tourism offering and presenting Northern Ireland on the world stage as a ‘must see’ destination."
