Foster opens NIE Energy’s Omagh contact centre

Wednesday, 25 August 2010

Energy Minister Arlene Foster today officially opened NIE Energy’s new contact centre in Omagh.

NIE Energy employs 30 staff in the Omagh centre, where a new telephony system has been installed to improve customer services.

Speaking to staff and company officials at the new centre, the Minister said: “I welcome this move by NIE Energy, which shows a commitment to the workforce in Omagh and the surrounding area.”

As well as relocating to new premises, the company has invested heavily to upgrade its existing telephony infrastructure including its three contact centres in Omagh, Ballymena and Belfast.

Arlene Foster said: “Customer focus is a key element for any forward thinking business. The skills and knowledge of the local staff here in Omagh will be further developed in this more modern building, which allows for the most up-to-date cabling and communication systems.”

Kieragh Nelson, NIE Energy Contact Centre Operations Manager, said: “Keeping in touch with our customers and being able to respond quickly and efficiently to their enquiries is critical to the continued success of our business. The opening of this new centre represents a major investment for the company but it is one that we are confident will deliver significant customer service benefits, particularly in terms of improving the quality of our communications with our customers.

“This new Centre in Omagh, together with our Contact Centres in Belfast and Ballymena, means that when our customers call us for advice they get put through to someone locally who can help them.”

The Minister added: “I know that a major part of the work of the Contact Centre is to advise customers on the optimum NIE Energy electricity tariff available to them and on ways in which their electricity consumption could be reduced. This investment in advanced telephone, email and internet facilities is designed to make it easier for customers to access expert energy advice and is therefore very much to be welcomed.

“The establishment of the Omagh contact centre in this new location means there is a possibility of expansion in the future, and I look forward to seeing further progress.”
