Whitemountain Quarries Ltd is the quarry materials division of Lagan, one of Ireland's most successful construction-related groups of companies in Northern Ireland, and a market leader in quarry materials and surfacing sectors.
After the meeting, the Minister said: “I welcome this opportunity to visit Temple Quarry and to hear at first hand the challenges affecting the quarry industry.
“Over the last 30 years, Whitemountain Quarries Ltd has developed an excellent track record in delivering quality materials, quality projects and quality service to the Northern Ireland market. Its reputation has also spread to GB and Europe with over 10 years exporting experience.
“However, everyone here is well aware of the tough economic times we are facing and therefore it is more important than ever that the industry and Government continue to work together.
“We need to build a sustainable construction industry and ensure that high quality businesses, such as is showcased here, continue to flourish.”
The Finance Minister closed by saying: “Government recognises the important contribution the construction industry makes to the economy of Northern Ireland and is currently looking at the capital budget to ascertain what can be done to further stimulate this sector.”
