Government artworks 'flow’ at the Braid
Wednesday, 11 August 2010The 13th joint exhibition of Government-owned art will be on show at the Braid Arts Centre, Ballymena, from 11 August – 18 September 2010.
The exhibition, which takes place annually, was officially opened this evening by Finance Minister, Sammy Wilson. It features 40 art works from the collections of the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) and the Office of Public Works (OPW) in Dublin and is based around man’s relationship with water, which is reflected in the title, ‘Flow’.
The artworks selected describe this relationship in many of its forms such as transport, leisure, work, power and sustenance. The collection includes paintings of seascapes, ships, harbours, rivers, lakes, beaches, marine life and watermills.
Among the artists represented in the exhibition are T.P. Flanagan, Patrick Collins, William Ashford and Basil Blackshaw.
The exhibition moves to the Linenhall Library on 22 September 2010 and admission is free.
