Dodds praises achievements of CIPFA students
Monday, 16 March 2009Finance Minister, Nigel Dodds has congratulated accountancy students who have achieved these Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) qualifications.
The Minister was speaking as he handed out the CIPFA awards to students in Parliament Buildings, Stormont.
Mr Dodds highlighted the growing demand for people with financial skills within the public sector and the important role financial experts have in ensuring the public sector deliver value for money.
He said: “There is no doubt that the current economic climate necessitates the effective control and management of both private and public finances, with pressure to ensure every penny is spent as wisely as possible.
“Today’s students are tomorrow’s public sector finance leaders and the commitment they have shown to achieve these standards bodes well for the future.
“As the public deserve and expect value for money is achieved in everything we do, we are equipping ourselves well for the future”.
