Wilson meets with Londonderry Chamber of Commerce
Thursday, 26 November 2009Finance Minister Sammy Wilson today met with the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce to discuss a range of business issues that are of particular significance to the North West.
Speaking at the meeting in Clarendon Street, Londonderry, the Minister said: “The Executive is committed to prioritising economic development within the Londonderry area. Nevertheless, we are aware that the area faces a number of challenges and I am here to listen to your concerns.”
Highlighting key policy interventions in the North West, Mr Wilson said: “The North West Gateway Initiative allows a more integrated and joined-up approach to economic growth in the North West for the mutual benefit of the entire region.
“We also now have the Ilex Urban Regeneration Company, which continues to build strong strategic partnerships in both the public and private sectors and an agreed way forward for the economic, social and physical development of the North West area.”
Mr Wilson assured the Chamber of his continued endeavours to ensure that current difficulties firms are facing as a result of the global economic downturn are minimised as much as possible.
The Minister concluded: “The Chamber’s continued work in making North West businesses more productive and outward-looking is valued and will go far in enhancing Northern Ireland’s economic prospects.”
