Thursday, 21 February 2008A more user-friendly version of a strategy to improve stroke services has been launched to accommodate responses from those directly affected by stroke.
Health Minister Michael McGimpsey issued 'Improving Stroke Services in Northern Ireland' for public consultation on 28 November 2007. Following the launch the Department was asked by Speechmatters to consider the development of a more user friendly version for those directly affected by stroke and their carers. With publication of this new 'Easy Access' version, the consultation will now be extended to 28 March 2008.
Launching the 'Easy Access' version of the consultation document, the Minister said: "It is important that those most affected by stroke, and in most need of help and support, have an opportunity to comment on our proposals. This new user-friendly document will allow many more people to let us have their views on our proposals.
"I have also extended the consultation period to 28 March to allow more time to comment and I would encourage as many people as possible to take this further opportunity to make their views known."
The Minister added: "The revised document has been prepared with significant input from Speechmatters and I would like to express my appreciation for their help and support in this task."
