Armagh company fined £1,000 for pollution discharge
Friday, 18 April 2008MacNeice Fruit Ltd pleaded guilty to making a polluting discharge to a waterway and was fined £1,000 at Armagh Magistrates' Court today.
On 25 April 2007 an Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) official found that an unnamed tributary of the Tall River was black in colour and foaming.
Samples confirmed that the effluent from an apple cannery belonging to MacNeice Fruit Ltd was polluting and contained matter which was potentially harmful to the fish life in the receiving waterway.
