Incorrect expiry date driving licences to be replaced

Tuesday, 25 August 2009

The Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) has identified that around 400 driving licences need to be replaced because the expiry date printed on them is incorrect.

The licences show a date beyond the correct expiry date, which should be no more than 10 years from the date of issue.

Drivers affected will receive a letter shortly asking for the return of their licence and a new licence will be issued free of charge. Unless the driver wants to update his or her photograph, it will not be necessary to provide a new photograph.

The error which allowed incorrect dates to be printed on the licences has been fixed to prevent this happening in future.

DVA apologises for any inconvenience caused.
