Newry man fined for two planning offences
Tuesday, 2 December 2008A Co Down man was fined a total of £11,000 at Newry Magistrates' Court for two planning offences.
Mr Martin Hegarty, Cloughanramer Road, Newry, was fined £10,000 on 1 December 2008 for non-compliance with a Planning Enforcement Notice which sought the cessation of all retailing and display of goods at the premises.
The Planning Service brought the action under Article 72 of the Planning (NI) Order 1991(as amended).
Mr Hegarty was also fined £1,000 and £87 court costs for displaying an advertisement without planning permission as required under the Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992. Summons action was re-initiated in this case as the advertisement was still in situ even though the Department had previously successfully prosecuted on 2 July 2007.
The Planning Service brought the action under Article 84 of the Planning (NI) Order 1991 (as amended).
