Agency stages barking mad event
Wednesday, 10 June 2009Dog lovers across Northern Ireland were today warned they would be barking mad to miss an event in Limavady this weekend.
The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) will proudly host “Pooches In the Park” in Roe Valley Country Park this Saturday from 12pm – 5pm.
The event, which is sponsored by local pet food ‘Brandy’, will provide a really enjoyable day for dogs and their owners, as well as families and adults of all ages!
NIEA Warden Gerard Cutmore said: “We are delighted to welcome the dogs and their owners to the Park for this event.
“It promises to be a fun day out for the dogs and their owners, for families and those who don’t even own a dog.
“The Agency is very keen to support all dog owners and we believe this event will demonstrate how the park offers great walks for any dog at any time of the year.”
Among the attractions will be a dog competition with pooches competing in five categories, including “Waggiest Tail” and “Best Rescue Dog”.
There will also be a sponsored walk around the park. All proceeds will go to Rainbow Animal Shelter.
Visitors to Roe Valley Country Park on Saturday are also being urged to come along and watch a sheepdog rounding up his ducks and visit a dog trainer for expert advice on how to train up your dog!
There will also be arts and crafts, facepainting and many more products perfect for your pooch!
