Larne car breaker fine £200 for waste offences
Friday, 6 March 2009County Antrim man was today fined a total of £200 and court costs of £11 at Larne Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Alan Aubrey McKinty (58) of Ballywillan Road, Glenoe, Larne, pleaded guilty to three breaches of waste management legislation.
On 29 March 2007, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (formerly Environment and Heritage Service) investigated Mr McKinty’s site at Ballywillan Road, Glenoe, Larne. They found a substantial quantity of various scrap metals, end of life vehicles and parts of end of life vehicles, which had been deposited without a waste management licence.
The site did not have a licence to operate as an authorised treatment facility for end of life vehicles either. Officers returned to the site on 5 July 2007 and again on 13 November 2007 and on both occasions the waste was still present on the site.

1. Mr McKinty was fined under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.
£100 under Article 4(1)a - the treating, keeping and disposal of controlled waste, or knowingly causing or knowingly permitting controlled waste to be treated, kept or disposed of in or on any land except under and in accordance with a waste management licence.
£100 under Article 5(1)b and received an absolute discharge under 5(1)b – allowing waste to escape from a site.
