A6 Moneynick road roadworks

Tuesday, 15 May 2007

The A6 Moneynick Road will be closed to traffic from Moneynick Primary School to Toome on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2007 to facilitate resurfacing works.

Some preparatory works, mainly to reset existing ironwork, will be completed during the week before the closure, and while our contractor will work over as short a distance as possible to minimise delays, it is inevitable that journey times will be affected. Traffic control Monday to Friday, permitting single lane traffic to pass the works will be in operation between 0930 and 1600 hours. Delays will be unavoidable and motorists may wish to consider using alternate routes.

Motorists travelling to Belfast International Airport are reminded that Antrim Road is closed between Dungonnell Road and the Airport and that a diversion via Belmont Road, Oldstone Road and Ballyrobin Road is in place.

Detailed traffic management arrangements for the weekend closure of the Moneynick Road are summarised below:

Antrim bound traffic will be diverted from Toome along the Staffordstown Road to Randalstown.

Toome bound traffic will be diverted from Ballygrooby roundabout, through Randalstown and via the Portglenone and Rougery Roads to Toome.

Parking restrictions will be enforced in Randalstown to assist the flow of additional through traffic.

Roads Service regrets the inconvenience these necessary works will cause to the travelling public and the significant traffic disruption that is likely. Every effort has been made to minimise the disruption caused by the works and drivers are requested to consider using alternative routes to avoid the area if at all possible.
