Public event on a future road bypass of Ballykelly

Thursday, 1 May 2008

Roads Service is investigating the feasibility of providing a bypass road around Ballykelly.

Ballykelly village straddles the A2 which forms part of the Northern Key Transport Corridor linking the Belfast Metropolitan Area to Coleraine and Londonderry.

A scheme to bypass Ballykelly is contained in the recently published Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland and is one of a number of schemes included in the ten year Forward Planning Schedule.

Roads Service is holding a Public Consultation event at the Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 7 May 2008 (3pm to 9pm)
  • Thursday 8 May 2008 (10am to 9pm)

Mr Jim Beattie, Divisional Roads Manager for Roads Service, Northern Division, said: “Roads Service has organised this important event to give local elected representatives, business people, local residents, statutory consultees and other interested parties the opportunity to come along, meet the Roads Service design team and their Consultants, obtain information on the project and to take part in the process as the option appraisal and design is developed.”
