McCausland meets Enniskillen town traders
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland today visited Enniskillen and met traders in the town centre to discuss its future development.
~ Wednesday, 8 February 2012
The meeting with the Fermanagh Economic Development Organisation, which was held in Enniskillen’s Clinton Centre, covered a range of issues facing the town centre, including:
- the town centre masterplan;
- the proposed public realm scheme for the town centre;
- the future of the Erne Hospital and Grosvenor Barracks sites; and
- the location of public sector jobs in Enniskillen.
Nelson McCausland said: “On Monday, I announced that I was setting up a senior level taskforce on town centre regeneration to look at what more the Executive could do to support our town centres. I think that it is important to hear at first hand what people who work and run businesses in towns like Enniskillen think about these issues. That is why I am pleased to have had the opportunity to come to Enniskillen today to meet local businessmen and Councillors to discuss their concerns and hear about their ambitions for the town.”
Notes for editors:
- During his visit to Enniskillen, the Minister also visited the site of the former Grosvenor Barracks to see progress on bringing ten former military houses back into use as social housing and a women’s refuge in the town.
