Minister McCausland said: “I am pleased to announce this £150,000 investment in the popular sea-side resort of Portstewart. The scheme will enhance the appearance of buildings along the promenade and the Diamond area of the town making Portstewart more appealing to all those who live in and visit the town. It will also help existing businesses improve their capacity to trade and create the opportunity for further investment which will contribute to the long term viability and prosperity of the town.
“The revitalise scheme will focus on shop front improvements, new signage, floral displays and a marketing and promotional campaign to help highlight what Portstewart has to offer. The scheme will be managed by Coleraine Borough Council and will be delivered by the traders and local representatives of the town.”
The Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor Sam Cole welcomed the investment, adding: “On behalf of Coleraine Borough Council I thank Minister McCausland and his Department for this important contribution. This investment aims to sustain the momentum of effective regeneration in Portstewart. We have seen in Portrush how this type of scheme can have an immediate positive impact and we believe this success can be replicated in Portstewart.”
