Confiscation order against Londonderry woman
Tuesday, 20 April 2010The Social Security Agency Financial Investigation Unit obtained a Confiscation Order against a woman at Londonderry Crown Court yesterday.
On 21 May 2009, the defendant pleaded guilty to allowing her husband to claim benefit fraudulently to which they were not entitled and she was sentenced to 120 hours community service.
At yesterday’s confiscation hearing, the Court agreed that the loss to the Department through the defendant’s criminal activity amounted to £58,000. The Court granted a confiscation Order in this amount.
The Confiscation Order is to be satisfied by the 19 October 2010.
