Strabane man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Strabane Magistrates Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

He was given three months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £55 for failure to declare employment while claiming Disability Living Allowance totalling £3,261.

He is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 277 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
