Two convicted of benefit fraud at Omagh court

Two people were convicted at Omagh Magistrates' Court on Friday 14 August for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

A man was fined £300 for dual signing in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Mr McDonagh claimed Income Support and Jobseekers Allowance totalling £6,633.

While a woman was given a two year conditional discharge for claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £13,545 while failing to declare she was living with a partner.

Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 279 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
