Belfast woman convicted of benefit fraud
Wednesday, 19 August 2009A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
She was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £43 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £11,070.
She is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 280 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
