Ballyclare man jailed for benefit fraud

A man was given a custodial sentence at Ballymena County Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Samuel McClean (34) of Rashee Court, Ballyclare claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £13,500 while failing to declare employment and living with a partner. He was given a two month jail sentence to run concurrently on each of the two charges.

Mr McClean is required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
