Six convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast court
Tuesday, 31 August 2010Six people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
A Belfast man was given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Disability Living Allowance totalling £250.
A Newtownabbey man was given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £37 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support and Incapacity Benefit totalling £3,590.
A Belfast woman was fined £300 and given a 12 month conditional discharge for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £7,461.
A Belfast woman was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £34 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £2,316.
A 59 year old Belfast woman was given a 12 month Probation Order and ordered to pay court costs of £43 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support, Incapacity Benefit and Rates Rebate totalling £9,546.
A Belfast woman was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £37 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £4,859
All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
