Minister Ritchie announces £380,000.00 funding for street lighting upgrade in Ballysally

Monday, 22 December 2008

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA today announced a funding package for a street lighting upgrade in Ballysally Estate, Coleraine.

The Minister said: “I am pleased to announce this funding through the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme for street lighting upgrades in Ballysally. These improvements will enhance community safety and help reduce opportunities for anti-social behaviour in the area.”

The proposal will involve the replacement/upgrade of current street lighting in the Mossvale, Glenburn, Glenvara, Kenbane, Grovesend, Elms Park and Loughanhill Park areas. The work will complement and complete the upgrades already carried out in the estate in 1995 and 1996. 2,592 sq metres of Footways in Elms Park and Loughanhill will also be resurfaced.

Funding has been secured from DSD Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund and work will be undertaken on the Department’s behalf by DRD Roads Service Northern Division

  • Economic Renewal – to develop economic activity in the most deprived neighbourhoods and connect them to the wider urban economy; and
  • Physical Renewal – to help create attractive, safe and sustainable environments in the most deprived neighbourhoods.

2. The £380,000.00 will be funded through the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund.
