Two convicted of benefit fraud at Londonderry Court
Monday, 21 December 2009Two people were convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' Court on 17 December for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
A man claimed Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £5,616 while failing to declare capital. He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £103 court costs.
A woman claimed Income Support totalling £253 while working. She was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £61 court costs.
Both are required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 443 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
