Two convicted of benefit fraud at Newtownards Court

Two people were convicted at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

A Belfast man (26) failed to declare capital while claiming Income Support totalling £2,954. He was given 60 hours community service.

A Comber woman (31) failed to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £3,468. She was give 60 hours community service and ordered to pay £34 court costs.

Both are also required to repay any remaining money they wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
