Londonderry man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The Londonderry man (28) was given three months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £73 for failing to declare employment while claiming Income Support and Carers Allowance totalling £15,676.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
