Belfast woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

The Belfast woman was given one year imprisonment suspended for three years for failing to declare capital while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £49,465.

She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
