McCausland announces funding boost for Enniskillen's residents
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland today announced a further funding boost of over £430,000 for a three year Health and Wellbeing programme in Enniskillen.

The programme will provide health activities and support for residents in Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal Area including:
- a range of physical activities comprising swimming, walking and football;
- a range of mental health activities including programmes to boost confidence, self esteem and relieve stress;
- access to specialised counselling services;
- drug, alcohol support and awareness and
- a health fair.
The programme will be managed by the Western Trust in partnership with the Aisling Centre, Devenish Partnership Forum, Nexus and Solace.
Minister McCausland said: “This is good news for people in Enniskillen. The programme will help improve health and wellbeing in the area and build confidence in residents.
“I recognise that if we are to tackle the long term spiral of deprivation we must improve the life chances of those living in our most vulnerable communities. It is vital that all people, regardless of background are given the opportunity to enjoy acceptable levels of good health and well being.”
To date, the total amount of money spent to date by DSD on Neighbourhood Renewal projects in Enniskillen is over £1.6 million.

- The project has a total value of £503,686 made up of £437,253 from DSD and £66,433.00 from Western Health Trust, Aisling Centre, Devenish Partnership Forum, Nexus and Solace.
- The Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy “People and Places,” which was published in June 2003, sets out governments proposals for closing the gap between the quality of life for people in the most deprived neighbourhoods and the rest of society.
- The Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy has four interlinking strategic objectives:
Community Renewal – to develop confident communities that are able and committed to improving the quality of life in the areas;
Economic Renewal – to develop economic activity in the most deprived neighbourhoods and connect them to the wider urban economy;
Physical Renewal – to help create attractive, safe, and sustainable environments in the most deprived neighbourhoods; and
