Belfast man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Ballymena Magistrates’ court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

A Belfast man claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £2,595 while failing to declare employment. He was given a conditional discharge for 2 years and ordered to pay court costs of £97.

He will also have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
