Confiscation Order obtained against Omagh man
The Social Security Agency Financial Investigation Unit yesterday obtained a Confiscation Order to the value of £16,000 against an Omagh man at Dungannon Crown Court.

The defendant on 11 March 2011 pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit and on 15 April 2011 was sentenced to 200 hours community service.
At the confiscation hearing the Court agreed that the loss to the Department through the defendant’s criminal activity amounted to £16,758 and the Court granted a confiscation order for the amount of £16,000 to allow for repayments already made to the Department.
The Confiscation Order is to be satisfied by 23 December 2011. If the Confiscation order is not satisfied by this date, the defendant will have to serve a 12 month prison sentence.
