Belfast woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

A woman claimed Income Support and Carers Allowance totalling £11,514 while failing to disclose capital. She was given a one month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay court costs of £46.

She will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
