Northern Ireland Housing Executive board members announced
Friday, 21 May 2010Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA today announced appointments to the board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
Following a public appointments competition, three board members have been appointed for a five year term from 1 June 2010.
The new members are Edna Dunbar MBE, Angela Coffey and Kenneth Millar. The members will receive £6,740 per annum for their services.
These appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland’s Code of Practice.

- The appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland’s Code of Practice. A selection panel which included an independent panel member, as required under the Commissioner’s Code considered the suitability of all candidates. The final decision on the appointments rested with the Minister.
- All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees to be published.
- Mrs Dunbar MBE lives in Portrush and is a self employed consultant. Mrs Dunbar has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years and holds no other public appointments.
- Mrs Coffey lives is Camlough and is a former principal Civil Engineer with the Department for Regional Development. She is a member of the Board of Governors for the Southern Regional College and a Non-Executive Director of Board Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company for which she receives £12,000 per annum. Mrs Coffey has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years.
- Mr Millar lives in Comber and is a management consultant. Mr Millar has not engaged in any political activity in the last five years and holds no other public appointments.
- The Board is responsible for the efficient, effective and economic delivery of the Housing Executive's services. It determines policies within its overall aims and objectives and makes decisions on operational and organisational strategies. The Chairman reports to the Minister for Social Development on the organisation's achievement of its objectives and targets.
