Man convicted of benefit fraud at Strabane court
Thursday, 12 November 2009A man has been convicted at Strabane Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
The man failed to declare capital while claiming Income Support totalling £5,137. He was given three months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay £31 court costs.
He is also required to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 379 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
