Londonderry man convicted of benefit fraud
Thursday, 8 October 2009A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
He had claimed Income Support and Incapacity Benefit totalling £22,486 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 15 month prison sentence, suspended for three years.
The man is required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 342 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
