Man convicted of benefit fraud at Newtownards Court
Tuesday, 13 October 2009A man was convicted at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
He claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3,003 while failing to disclose he had capital. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
He is required to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 345 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
