Women convicted of benefit fraud at Coleraine Court
Friday, 3 September 2010Two women were convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
The first woman (36) from Coleraine claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £20,600 while failing to declare she was living with her partner. She was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £67.
The second Coleraine woman (53) claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £14,256 while failing to declare employment. She was given two month prison sentence suspended for two years, fined £150 on each of the two charges and ordered to pay court costs of £82.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
