Dundrum man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The man (49) from Dundrum was fined £200 and ordered to pay court costs of £31 for failure to declare capital while claiming Income Support, Rates Relief and Job Seekers Allowance totalling £3,074.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
