Londonderry man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The Londonderry man (51) claimed Income Support, Incapacity Benefit and Housing Benefit totalling £13,288 while failing to declare he was employed. He was given 180 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £129.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
