Four convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Court
Tuesday, 21 September 2010Four people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
A Belfast man (31) was fined £400 and ordered to pay court costs of £66 for wrongful encashment of Income Support totalling £265.
A second man (57) from Belfast was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £67 for failure to declare employment while claiming Incapacity Benefit and Job Seekers Allowance totalling £12,487.
A Belfast woman (21) was fined £350 and ordered to pay court costs of £37 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £2,202.
Another Belfast woman (40) was fined £500 and ordered to pay court costs of £36 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £9,019.
All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
