Two convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast court

Two men were convicted at Belfast Magistrates' court yesterday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

The first Belfast man claimed Income Support totalling £3,191 while failing to declare he was working. He was given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £34.

The second Belfast man claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £616 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £31.

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money they wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
