At a meeting of the North South Ministerial Council in Belfast today attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern T.D., the deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA, Junior Minister Ian Paisley MLA and Junior Minister Kelly MLA, Ministers announced new appointments to the Boards of the North South Bodies.
The attached Annex contains the details of the new appointments to the Boards of the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission, the North/South Language Body, InterTradeIreland, the Food Safety Promotion Board and Tourism Ireland.
In making the new appointments Ministers paid tribute to the outgoing Board members:
“The outgoing Board members have given dedicated service and their knowledge and experience was vital to the successful establishment of the new Bodies. Their commitment has helped to place the Bodies on a sound footing for the future and we wish to place on record our appreciation of their work.”
Turning to the appointment of the new Boards the Ministers expressed their appreciation to those who have agreed to serve:
“We are grateful to those who have agreed to serve on the Bodies and we wish them well for the next four years. We are appointing today many highly talented men and women to take forward the work of the North South Bodies, and we wish them every success in their endeavours over the coming years.”
