First Flooding Task Force evidence session takes place in Fermanagh

Thursday, 7 January 2010

The first of three evidence gathering sessions set up by the cross-departmental flooding Task Force has taken place in Fermanagh today.

The Task Force heard from local councillors, the Ulster Farmers’ Union, Northern Ireland Agricultural Producers’ Association and Fermanagh Economic Development Organisation, along with others from the business and commerce sectors.

The Task Force described the session as being extremely useful and will now consider the issues raised. The group reiterated its commitment to work together to bring forward recommendations as soon as possible and looks forward to a further session on Monday 11 January, which will give local residents the opportunity to talk about the challenges they faced at the time and in the aftermath of the flooding.

The Task Force aims to produce an interim report by the end of February 2010.
